Jude and Marguerite continued their trip to new York by setting out today to see a couple of more sights in New York and to do a wee spot of 'shappin' too. Don't forget the 'shappin'.
Here they are they start the day with a visit to the Intrepid.
The Intrepid is a huge aircraft carrier ship which was used in the Second World War and the Vietnam War. It was used to launch hundreds of planes in battles in these two wars. Many of these planes had 'fold-up' wings (like this one) so as to allow more space for more planes.

Here Marguerite danders around looking at a helicopter with her handset tucked up to her ear.

Jude and Marguerite have a go at 'flying' a helicopter.

This type of plane is a 'Drone' and it was in the news this week as one crashed in Iran. It is a spy plane which flies at 3 times the height of a normal plane.
The Intrepid was great. It had such a collection of amazing aircraft on show.

Marguerite takes a break and relaxes down by the Hudson River.

This is one of only 11 Concorde planes in the world (there were 12 but one crashed in Paris). The Concorde is cool and it's sitting at the Intrepid in New York. It was given as a gift from Britain to America.
Ok naiiy, time for a cool pic at the Concorde plane. 'Marguerite, you take me pic here', said Jude.
Ready, set, go - Take 1

'Bloody hell, your clicking too fast, wait until I say naiiy, then click the pic', said Jude

'That one's perfect', said Marguerite. 'Magic, that's magic', replied Jude.

The Hells Kitchen area of New York's West side is a fascinating mix of restaurants and pubs. Here is Marguerite in Hells Kitchen putting her feet up on someone's doorstep. A nice wee area this was, very nice indeed.

'Ye can't go to New York and not dander through Times Square', said Jude as he mingles among the crowds.

'Now that's a big set of Christmas Tree lights if ever I saw one', said Marguerite.

What's going on here?

It's only a bunch of characters from cartoons who are out and about on the streets of New York.
Marguerite cuddles up close to this one. However all was not as it seems here. These edjits were happy enough to pose for pics but then they wanted to be 'tipped' (see the bag in yer man's hand there - that's his tip bag). 'Aye Dead on sure', said Marguerite as she shuffled away slightly surprised and slightly confused.
One thing about Marguerite - she's a fast learner. You see, after having nearly got caught out for a tip with yer man she then kept her distance from Sponge-Bob Square-pants so as not to get snared for a tip. Look, Sponge-Bob is pointing at her and calling her a tight git!!!!

And likewise with yer man Buzz what's-his-face there.

Jude was brave and just walked up to yer man Mick there and got his pic taken and then brazenly just walked away laughing. Tight git too!
Look closely there and you can see Mick has a bag too. Of all the dirty low down tricks in the world, this one takes the biccy, dressing up as cartoon characters and extorting money outta folk. Disgrace!!

'Ok Jude, let's go do some shaapin, don't be tippin those edjits and we'll save our coups for the shaaaps', said Marguerite.
'I know Marguerite, I've a loada pennies I need shot off, me breeks are falling off me', replied Jude.

The Radio City Music Hall looks good but even better with Marguerite parked in front of it. Wha?
'Ok Marguerite, can we go to the NBA store now', asked Jude.

No sooner where they on 5th Avenue than Jude found the NBA store. Here he is trying out a new cool top. He's even pulling out the auld thumbs up number there. Cool. Wha?

'100 dollars? Wha? Bloody hell mate, this basketball game is gonna break me.........spend, spend, spend...........that's all I ever seem to do following basketball........going to basketball games..........buying basketball tops...........buying basketball cups.......basketball key-rings, basketballs..............where will it end mucker............it'll not end until I'm broke that's when, it'll break me......', mumbled Jude to the doll at the checkout.
Oh yeah, he's a melter alright, look closely.....here he paid $99 in notes and one dollar made up of about 40 coins of which at least 30 were pennies. He held the queue up for a good minute or two, but as long as he got shot of those pesky pennies, that's the main thing.

'This is more like it, let's get some free samples', said Marguerite. Talk about Jude being tight - Marguerite dragged Jude into this shop where they each snared a free sample sweet before making their way back out the door and as they did so they had the cheek to ask for another sample sweet. The lady said, 'didn't you already get one?' to which Marguerite replied, 'No, not us', and they were both promptly handed another free one each. Chancer!!!!

And here's the evidence!!!!

This was a cool shop with all these cool clocks wrapped around it.

One of the most famous shops in New York is Barney's. For anyone who cares......it's actually one of Lady Gaga's favourite shops. And not happy with just shopping there she has taken over half of the 3rd floor with 'Gaga's Workshop' to sell lots of interesting items such as...........

........cool hair band thingys like this and........

........finger lolly pops such as this. You're welcome to it if you want to part $25 for it. Go ahead feel free, aye sure dead on. Not Jude and Marguerite though, their too wise for that. Windy shaapin's no bother but cash is too hard earned for that malarky. $25 for a lolly!!!

It was a fascinating place though, all cool stuff and all.......yes it was ever so slightly over-priced, but cool all the same.

Two of Lady Gaga's 'little monsters' perhaps.

After a hard day's walking the streets of New York ye be wrecked, completely wrecked, knackered like. So Marguerite has settled down and is resting herself with a glass of red.

Ready, set, go - Take 3

Meanwhile Jude is caught 'mid-chew' as he polishes of a gorgeous set of ribs.

Smile!!!!!

Tonight Marguerite and Jude had their second best ever meal in New York. This Boston Blog is certainly not 'Tripadvisor' but if you're ever in New York you could do a lot worse that visit this place, it was called Hillstone and it's located at 53rd and 3rd.

The Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake was delicious.

And still on the theme of being tight......one desert and two spoons works well every time. Wha?

And just in case you're wondering, the best meal ever in New York or otherwise.......remains that one they ate in the River Cafe below the Brooklyn Bridge. That was when Marguerite and Jude attended their friend's John and Karen's wedding in August 2009.

The next day and a quick visit to see the origins of the whole 'Occupy' movement, which of course is in Wall Street in New York.

Oh yeah, an update on how the World Trade Center is coming on. Well it's going up at a rate of one floor a week, and since Robert and Jude's trip to the US Open final in September it must be up by about 12 floors. Wha?

Another great trip to New York ended with a stroll through old New York (that's the original city in lower Manhattan before it expanded into all the numbered streets and Avenues). Here is Marguerite blending in with the trees and buildings and all.

The Woolworth building used to be the tallest building in the World for years and years until it was taken over by the Empire State Building in 1930.

Marguerite and Jude normally take Boltbus or Megabus but this time they took the Fung Wah Chinatown bus. What a laugh that was. The journey was fine, no bother there. It was these dolls here who did the ushering onto the buses in New York, they were nuts, completely mental nuts. After watching and laughing at how they treated other travelers, a very quietly spoken Marguerite asked, 'Is this bus going to Boston?' This doll replied by screaming back at Marguerite in her high pitched, screechy but funny Chinese voice, 'WHERE ELSE?' Folk could have heard it in da Bronx. Magic!! A great ending to a great trip.
