Just when it looked like the whole NBA season was to be wiped out due to the 'lockout' (a dispute between the players and the NBA team owners) it returned on Christmas Day. So the lads then wasted no time in getting in on the act with a trip to the Garden to see the Celtics' 3rd home game of the season in early January.
If you're ever in Boston and you could do worse than choose Sullivan's Tap as your warm up spot before a big game in the Garden. It's just across the street of course, but it has the ultimate warmer-upper game, the basketball cage itself.
So Jude challenged the lads to a game and with only a couple chickening out (bac-bac-bac) the scene was set to finally see just who was the super-hoop-shooter. Stephen tried. That's about all can be said of Stephen's effort unfortunately......he tried his best.
Remarkably it is nearly two years since Jude had his last decent shoot out in here. Then he was with Gabriel, Eoin, Noel, Stephen, Puppet, Conor and Seamy on Gabe's Stag party. October 2010's game v Robert doesn't count.....that was like Paul Pierce v's a wee lad, embarrassing for Rob it was.
Anyway here is all-round super star Darren as he has a go. Could he be a contender tonight?

Adrian 'shoulda went to spec-savers', as they say at home, I mean Adrian was that bad. Seriously, he could have shot there all night and he'd not have scored!

Tom gives 100%, 100% of the time in everything he does, as you can see here.

He even tries new and exciting techniques in a bid to steal an edge on his opponents, like this cunning throwing style. Unfortunately for Tom though he was just crap no matter what way you try to gloss it up. Seriously!

Now we're talking, here's Rondo, he's certainly shot a few hoops in his day. All that practice he had for 2 years round in Park Drive in Fenway, well surely it would stand by him tonight, surely........I mean all those big wins he had against Megan, Aideen, Michael Snr, Marguerite Jnr and Marguerite Snr.........he couldn't lose.
But who won?

Fermanagh's finest Darren 'the all-rounder' Maguire won with a stunning score of 52. Well done Darren! And with the Celtics nursing a few injuries tonight for Darren it could easily have been a case of, 'Bring yer boots lad, yer on!!!!

The lads are all smiles as they finish up at Sullivan's Tap and get ready to head over to the Garden. Back row: Adrian, Dave, Ian, Bryan, Caoltan. Front row: Jude, Ciaran, Tom, Stephen and Darren.

'Now where's that darn seat o' mine at? asks Ciaran.

It was great to be back at the Celtics. Older players such as Kevin Garnett may have feared they were going to miss out on what could potentially be their last year playing...................but thankfully they're back.

Ciaran, Stephen, Tom and Ian enjoy the craic. Ian came straight from work tonight, hence the suit, he's not always dressed like that ye know. Meanwhile Ciaran, Stephen and Tom look like they've just flown in from a DC game at Suffolk Road!!!!

Tonight's game was a bit one-sided as the Celtics easily took care of the New Jersey Nets.

Oh yeah, Jude booked 11 tickets - 9 (proper card tickets) in row 9 and two (paper print-out jobs) two rows back in row 11 (in the cheap seats - wha?). He couldn't decide how to split them up, i.e. who was going to be bumped into row 11. So in Sullivan's Tap Jude pulled the cunning move of asking........'lads, who does not collect their tickets from events such as games, concerts and the like? Both Bryan and Caoltan stuck their shovels up and were promptly handed the paper tickets in row 11. Hehehhe, ok this was funny at the time folks right, but I suppose ye had to be there! Hehehe.............
