Queens University Alumni Night, Boston

Here are (left to right) Victoria Doonan, Marguerite and Yvonne. They are the organising committee for the newly created Queens University Belfast Alumni group for Boston, Massachusetts.
For those who do not know what Queens University Belfast looks like, well here it is folks. It is a beautiful University and it is set in South Belfast Northern Ireland.
Tonight's Queens Alumni event in Boston kicked off with buddies Yvonne and Marguerite nabbing Jude and Tom for some raffle tickets. Jude has never won a raffle in his life but he keeps trying regardless. Tom nearly died when they Yvonne and Marguerite told him how much the tickets were, '$5 a strip Tom.....eh so that's two strips for $10, naaiy don't be tight, cough up the dough, sure look at all the dough yer earning at thon bank'. 'Bloody hell, daylight robbery that is and I haven't even got me coat off yet', replied a stunned and visibly shaken Tom.
Tonight Marguerite had multiple roles - she was a committee member, an event organiser, a joint quiz question arranger, a raffle ticket seller and......................
.........the quizmaster extraordinaire. Yeah, that's her up there behind the mic reading out all the puzzling questions. A couple of the questions were as puzzling for her as they were for the edjits in the teams but she did a grand job indeed especially after the early nerves were settled. Never before has there ever been a quizmaster who smiled sooooo much. She was sooo excited it was really funny.
So the room was packed out as everyone settled down for the quiz.
Down among the tables of quiz-goers is Clare who is of course also from Belfast and attended Queens. Here she gives the 'thumbs up' after hearing that one round of questions would be a picture round. 'Aye, I love picture rounds me, they're magic, it's like when I get the newspaper I just look at the pictures.....magic', said Clare.
This quiz team stood no chance whatsoever in tonight's quiz. I mean look at them!!!! Darren, Ciaran, Stephen and Marissa were quite possibly the dodgiest team in the room and eventually finished second last or third last, nobody can really remember.
Now here's a quiz team if I ever saw one. Derry's finest Darragh and Tom are joined by Co. Down's Jude and the yank, Heather. Believe it or not Heather actually studied at............the University of Ulster as an exchange student. This team's name was - 'Darren is crap at Softball, like really, really crap'.
Midway through the quiz and Yvonne asks Frank to pick out the winning raffle ticket. The prize was $150 worth of Kerrygold products which had kindly been donated by Tara Maguire (sister of Jude's friend Darren) on behalf of Kerrygold.
Of course jammy git Clare won the Kerrygold products, so tonight ended up being a very good one for her as she also scooped these prizes for coming third in the quiz.
Jammy git!!!!!
Marguerite and Heather are all smiles as the event proves to be great craic and a fun filled evening.
Yvonne's husband Dan was delighted with his prize of a box of golf balls, which he got for his team finishing second.
Dan, Yvonne, Mary and her husband, the author Kyle Darcy, finished second.
And the winners were...............
.....these smart cookies. So that's Frank again in the middle there and Coran on the right.
Jude's team finished up mid table. When asked what happened with his quiz team he claimed he could not possibly have won the quiz because folk would have thought it were rigged (remember Marguerite was quizmaster). Then he said, 'I'm just here for the craic, 'I'm not even trying to win', before finally saying, 'I like to see other folk win things too ye know '. What a load of hula hoops.
Well done Victoria, Marguerite and Yvonne on brilliantly organising and delivering a great fun night for all. Roll on the next Queens University Belfast Alumni event in Boston.
