Recently Marguerite and Jude's friends Robert and Lindsey visited from Boston. It was great to catch up again after not having seen one another for over a year and on their short trip they were able to see a little of Glenavy and of Belfast.

Glenavy really is quite small so after Robert and Lindsey had driven down the village's main street in search of Marguerite and Jude's house ......... well you could say they had seen Glenavy!

Robert is from Limerick, and of course that was their base while home. Lindsey is from Chicago and she was making her second trip to Ireland. This was their first trip 'up north' and when driving up they had a discussion about the pronunciation of Glenavy. Lindsey was spot on while everyone had a good laugh at Robert as he thought it was pronounced 'Glen-a-veee' (with a slight hint of a French accent chucked in for extra comedy value)!

Robert, Rob, The Mit, Roberto De Matteo ........ Rob has more names than you could shake a stick at! Here he settles in to the quiet life in Glenavy.

Meanwhile Lindsey is fascinated by the cool neighbours.

Tonight the gang enjoyed a nice BBQ and washed it down with some beer.

After dinner Ben took Robert on a tour of the gardens, pointing things out as he went along.

Ben has dipped his 'doe-doe' into Marguerite's beer and seems to think it is funny!

Robert and Ben get in some practice in anticipation of .......

........ the 'Glenavy World Cup shoot out'.
This was 3 shots from either side of your own net and 3 chipped from behind into the opposite net. So 9 shots in total ..... you could call it a 'Glenavy style Penalty shoot out'.
First up was Jude.

Next it was Rob's turn to back up all that Chelsea football chit chat over the years with some cool shots.

Eventually ......... after many attempts .......

....... Robert managed to score. One game was not enough for these two as they ended up playing three games.

No matter what the result is, whoever wins and whoever loses ........ always have a smile and a handshake after the game.

The fun and games continued as Marguerite brought out her recently purchased Hula Hoop. Lindsey led the way and immediately set a high standard as she just stood there barely moving but with the Hula Hoop spinning away perfectly.

Next up was Rob. Ehhhh ...... how should I put this ..... ehhh ..... just stick to the penalty shoot outs Roberto!

Marguerite had been practicing all week. That help her beat Robert easily but plenty more practise is required to get up to Lindsey's level I'm afraid! Jude also had a go and was pretty crap too it has to be said!

'Here Rob, this is how I used to do it a couple of years back, just watch this mate', rambled Jude.

'Jude, I'm from Limerick remember, you can't teach me nothing about this game! replied Roberto.
After a hard fought hurling penalty shoot out ......

........ it was back to the viewing gallery.

Robert, Lindsey and Marguerite have a laugh with the cows. After all the games the gang moved indoors to catch up more, watch the World Cup football and have some more beers.
The next day Robert and Lindsey had a couple of hours to spare (before driving all the way to Limerick) and so Marguerite and Jude took them into Belfast to see a couple of the sights. First up was Maggie May's on Botanic Avenue for some lunch.

Then a quick dander up Botanic and Robert and Lindsey were taken to Marguerite and Jude's old University, Queens.
After a quick pic out the front of Queens Lanyon Building ........

..... they headed into have a look around.

Next up was a visit to Botanic Gardens and it's famous Palm House ..........

.......... for a look at some pretty cool and spectacular tropical plants.
Finally Robert and Lindsey got to see Belfast's City Hall. And after a quick look around inside and a quicker scoot to the shops to pick up some 'Belfast' gear they were off and headed back to Boston ..... well via Limerick. It was great to catch up with Robert and Lindsey again. Thanks for visiting.
