Happy Easter - Ben's annual Easter Egg hunt

Easter is an exciting time of the year.  The longer nights, a few days off and of course Easter Sunday itself and the exchange of gifts in the form of Easter Eggs.

It's most exciting for the kids, magical even ........ and here are Ruairi, Finn, Effy, Adam and Ben all having a great day.








On Easter Saturday Ben got the table set in anticipation.  It was very well decorated indeed. 

You could say - the scene was set!











And then .......... as if by magic ....... overnight the Easter bunny had left out all this other stuff ....... eggs, buckets, head sets, Top Trumps and whatnot ......... you name it it was all there on Easter Sunday morning.











Over on the settee the Easter Bunny had even left Ben some outdoor activity games to enjoy in the nice Easter weather.

Check out this cool new tennis net.










When Ben got up he was full of excitement. 















And he was able to pull cool bunny impersonation.














Then he wasted no time in ripping open his Easter gifts.













Yoda from Star Wars was first.

Then the 'Frozen' Top Trumps.

And don't forget the nice big Egg.

Tucked away at the end of the table were these rather fetching looking buckets.  I wonder what they could be for? 













Looking good on Easter Sunday morning.















Oh yes ....... the buckets ........ well here is Finn with a bucket in hand and all set for .....














........ Ben's annual Easter hunt.  Folk were out in force in eager anticipation of the big hunt.

Finn's thinking to himself ... 'I wish these ones would just hurry up!!










And they were off!

There's Adam running faster than he's ever ran ..... with Ben in close pursuit.












Quickly followed by Ruairi, Finn, Mummy Rabbit, Effy, Emma Rabbit, Ross and Ardeen.














The Easter hunt started at the end of the lane.

This was like a real treasure hunt ...... the eggs had sweets, chocolates and even little stickers and toys inside.

The kids were scrambling around looking everywhere ........ but the Easter Bunny had been quite the clever clogs in hiding the eggs.









Ben is now a veteran of these hunts and he used all his experience to quickly locate the first egg.














Adam and Effy were no dozzers either ..... and before long Adam had his first egg ......














.......... and Effy had her's.














Meanwhile Finn and Ruairi were thinking ....... 'where are my eggs?













The Easter Bunny had cunningly hid some eggs up high ........ for the grown ups.

Rhiannon was first to grab one of those eggs.












Ahhaaaa ....... Ruairi has got one!!

So that only left ............













...... young Finn.

And with the help of his Granda ............













........ he was able to get in on the act and grab some eggs.













By now Ben Rabbit's bucket was half full.














And Ruairi Rabbit's too.














Grace was on hand to help Finn find some eggs.














Back at the kitchen table Effy was having lots of fun as she got tucked in ........














....... and the boys too.















After all the excitement of the Easter Egg hunt Ben's Granda and Uncle Kevin had a job to do in plaining Ben's bedroom door down a little .......












....... as the boys sat and watched.














With the Easter Bunny having hid the eggs so well ........ Ben was finding them for hours after the official hunt had ended.













Like pirates digging for buried treasure are these two lads.
















The next activity of the day was the kids Egg & Spoon race.

Lining up and under starters orders were:  Ben, Adam, Emma and Jude.

Who would you pick too win out of that bunch?












Adam is off to a flyer ..... but something's up ...... he's not normally this fast or steady.

Meanwhile Emma is losing all sense of balance and is tipping over to her right ..... Ben is tucked in behind Adam waiting to pounce .... and Jude is bolting down the outside like an Olympic sprinter.








Soon Emma had tailed off to the right and fell overboard (her balance was off today big time) and Jude has disappeared into thin air ....... leaving just Adam and Ben to pull off an amazing draw in the race.  But wait!

After a stewards enquiry folk were stunned to find out that Adam's spoon had glue on it ...... yes real glue ....... how could he?  Of all the lowdown ......... folks seriously this really was a shocking development in what was a little kids Egg & Spoon race.  Who would have the mind to even think of something as twisted as that?



And yes ..... you guessed it ...... Emma and Adam were both quickly disqualified for downright scullduggery ....... and so Ben was announced the winner.  He duly celebrated by eating the egg at the finish line.











Ben and Adam the spent the rest of the day messing about in the garden ......














........ and having lots of fun on this year's very first appearance of the bouncy castle while the big folk had a beer or three.

You could say that was a perfect Easter Sunday!!!!
