A walk in the Paaahk

We took things easy this week as we settled back into normal life after Charlene's trip. Charlene was great company for us both and it was great craic to have her around. We definately miss her chirpiness already. So we took ourselves out for a wee dander to chill out. On the left Jude poses for one of those 'standing in front of the water thingy' shots. Every time Jude walks past one of these Marguerite makes him stand for a pic, it would drive ya nuts.

We dandered along the lovely Charles River walkway which goes on for miles. We were pleasantly surprised to come across a memorial garden to the victims of the Irish Famine of the 1840's. A whole square in Boston was filled with statues and plaques recalling the events. Here are a couple of pics of the memorial.

Soon enough we found a swing park. We just completely ignored the sign at the entrance which read 'suitable for 7-15 year olds', and marched on in like two big we-ans.

Marguerite seemed to think that all you could do on a swing was........eh.....swing. Well Jude informed her that there are loads of things you can do on a swing to keep yourself amused, like.....

Like, check this out, Jude is testing his swing to see if it goes round corners. Obviously it did not, but you gotta try these things. But wait.................. having spotted the soft bark type stuff there on the ground Jude has put into motion his plan to recreate the daring swing jumps first seen in Ballygalget swing park circa 1984.

Oh no, here he goes! By the way folks, this is not rocket science. This stunt basically involves winding the swing up as fast and as high as it will possibly go and then launching yourself to see how far ya can jump without rupturing yourself on any nearby fences, bins, tarmac, etc. Anyway here he is winding up the speed to attempt the unbelievable jump attempt. It should be pointed out that this has not been performed by Jude since about '86 and now he is a lot older and a lot more brittle than he was then.....but obviously none the wiser. This was big time entertainment where Jude grew up. Could we be about to witness a disaster?

40mph, 50mph, 60mph.......3, 2, 1........

Jeronimoooooooo!

Clink, clink, clink....

What's this? He survived, but only just. He takes a well earned rest on the rivers edge to nurse his aching limbs.

Soon he is back on his feet and doing what he does best, posing for a naff photy in the middle of some tree someplace.

Marguerite braves the breeze by wrapping the spare curtain around her. Sure why not? I mean what's funny about that, if you were lugging a spare curtain around with you and it got breezy sure would you not do the same?

At this point we contemplated joining the Boston Boat club so we could do Kayaking, canoeing, sailing etc for the summer. it was one of those random, 'let's go for it' scenarios. We held on to our $600 and moved on.

Check out the lovely wee duck here in this pic. And while yer at it, check out the bird in the water too!!!!!

We eventually made our way to the beautiful Boston Public Garden. Here a couple of pics of Jude and Marguerite relaxing in the paaaahk.
Check out the cool pic of Marguerite behind thon bunch of purple flowers. Wha?
