It's the famous Fall in New England with the changing of the colour of the leaves on the trees and the shedding of these leaves. Here is a view out the apartment window of some of the colour changes. Wha?
Anyway, it's Halloween weekend and Jude, Marguerite and Lisa Marie decided to visit the haunting and spoo, spoo, spooky town of Salem. It was here in 1692 that the famous 'witch' trials were held and over 20 young women were hung or crushed to death for just being a wee bit mad on it like, but like no madder than you would get in any modern town on a Saturday night mind you. It's just as well folk are a little more tolerant nowadays!
So then the party made it's way through the spooky streets. All sorts of weird and wonderful folk flock to Salem throughout October to celebrate Halloween. This pic here was taken quickly and followed by a very hasty getaway. I mean, would you hang around this guy for longer than necessary? Nope, didn't think so!
Marguerite is a master outfit designer herself as she proved last week, so she was impressed with many of the outfits on show today.
It's that auld fall lark again and here taking a walk in the Salem Park are Lisa Marie and Marguerite.
Jude and Marguerite - Salem, Halloween 2009.
Now that is an outfit folks. Marguerite and Lisa Marie find it very amusing and dive in for a pic. Seriously, you would not like to meet this punter in a dark alley or country lane at darkness. No joking, this was really scary.
Salem was full of people dressed up and all, here are another couple of punters doing their thing.
The day after Halloween and it's a beautiful day to go for a dander to explore new areas of Boston. Today the pavements of Brookline were the choice.
This pic is all about the tree, yes Jude insists on getting in it..............but listen folks, it's all about the tree.
'Here Jude, take my photy here so I'll remember what these steps look like and then I'll be able to re-do our decking this design when I get home', commented Marguerite.
In Brookline Marguerite and Jude stumbled upon Beals Street. Beals Street is famous because it was there that the 35th President of the United States was born. The 35th President was of course President John F Kennedy.
And here is the house where he spent his early years (spot Marguerite there on the porch). Pretty nifty, wha? As luck would have it it was 4.20pm at this stage and the very last tour of the season was about to commence at 4.30pm. Spooky timing!! So for a very modest fee of $3 each, Jude and Marguerite took the tour.
When the Kennedy family got bigger, parents Rose and Joe Kennedy moved them to a larger house elsewhere. But when JFK was running for president in 1960 the owner of this house wrote to him saying she lived in his old house. Anyway, cutting a long story short, his mother Rose re-purchased the house, restored it to the exact way it was when they owned it, re-placed furniture and crockery etc and gave it over to the U.S. version of the National Trust.
No pics were taken inside but one of the striking things about this house was it's Irishness. Jude and Marguerite both recognised lots of wee things that were just reminded them of their parent's and grandparent's houses at home. It really was just felt like an old fashioned Irish house.
Marguerite swings that auld doublejointed knee of hers to kick up a few leaves as this wee Halloween weekend drew to a close.
