Niagra Falls

Another place on the list of 'must see' sights has always been Niagra Falls. The Falls are situated on the Niagra river, which separates America and Canada. So as American families went into Thanksgiving holiday mode, Marguerite and Jude took the opportunity to scoot off to Canada for 4 days. The trip included this visit to the stunning Falls. Check out this pic of the Falls in full flow!

To avoid getting soaked folk are handed these cool yellow, spot the nerd, bin-liners thingys. They were not really needed but they did add a bit of colour and a bit of comedy value to the auld pic I suppose. Wha?

Here is Marguerite all aglow as she models her striking new outfit.

The Falls were pretty amazing really. Just like the Grand Canyon they are a natural beauty and it was just amazing to be standing there beside them watching the flow. A trip down a tunnel was taken which led to directly behind the Falls. The roar of the water and the views were stunning. These 2 pics were taken from beside the Falls.

This is a view of the Falls from the park above.

Along the road from Niagra Falls and driving through Fort George is where the smallest church in Canada sits. It can squeeze in 6 normal sized folk, here it is. Fort George was the scene of a massive British Army base following the American War of Independence and it was there that many Americans who were loyal to the British Crown left America and made their way onto British owned Canadian soil after the war.

The town of Niagra on the Lake is devoid of all things modern, e.g. McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, traffic lights etc. A quick stop there was very welcome as it was one of those rare but still very attractive places. It is a very intentionally 'British' town but Marguerite still managed to find this wee shop. The shop owner's accent gave her up straight away as a Derry woman and a conversation was struck up. Turns out she had been living here for 20 years and yet her accent had not budged one bit. Jude purchased a wee 'Clarke' keyring in thon shop and darn nice it was too!

A pic of Niagra on the Lake.

In Niagra on the Lake Marguerite met Santa Claus. He commended Marguerite for being a good girl this year and promised lots of gifts on 25th. The same could not be said for Jude as Marguerite touted on him saying he was a bad egg again. 'He'll be lucky to get a Mars bar this year', said Santa.

There is no better way to finish of your trip to Niagra Falls than nipping into Dan Akroyd's winery for a wine tasting session. 3 samples were had........uuuummmmm!!
This trip to Niagra Falls, Niagra on the Lake, Fort George and the winery made up what was thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Attempts were made to provide a wee Niagra Falls New Bulleting for folk back home. Let's say there were a brave few takes and that Marguerite is not very skilled in the art of fronting a news bulletin. Included here for your viewing are 3 of the 142 takes. Wha?

Marguerite really might have a future in the News reading lark - like perhaps she could be the dude holding the microphone, the doll that runs for the coffee, the lighting person or the one who bangs the clapper board and says 'take 27', 'take 142' etc.
