It's January in New England and that means it's time to get out the auld ski gear and hit the slopes again. Jude and Marguerite have been looking forward to doing this for a few weeks now and they were excited to finally hit the slopes at Wachusett Mountain. The wait is over for an Marguerite as she is about to ski for the first time this season.
The ski lifts are great craic. There is nothing more childish (or funny) than standing in this spot here and watching folk come off the lift only to end up 'arse-over-tit' upside down in the snow.....hehehehe....really childish but very very funny. Fortunately on this occasion Marguerite manages to stay upright.
This is Marguerite on her first run folks. The first run is always a gentle wee number on an easy slope to get oneself re-acquainted before you would go scooting down the mountain like Lindsay Vonn or some other mad edjit.
Oh yeah, it's always a good idea to start the season off with a wee lesson too, sure why not? Free lesson are included in the package price that Marguerite and Jude purchase. There is always a quest to improve your skills and at Wachusett they have 10 levels of lesson from absolute beginner to expert. Today's lesson was at level 5.......not bad actually!!!
Look folks - a big fluffy, cuddly, funny looking geek...........and a big white teddy bear!!!!! Marguerite finds a new friend.
Jude's skis primed and ready for action.
....eh...talking of action, here's Marguerite chucking down a move or two on the slope. Getting very confident is that doll, very confident indeed.
Bode Miller.
Swish, swish, swish......Marguerite finishes her final run of the day.
'Thank God we survived our first day back at Wachusett Marguerite', says Jude as he remembers that it was this day last year when they all went skiing and Clare C broke her arm while snowboarding!!!!
In the base camp Marguerite is the picture of an Olympic athlete as she relaxes her tired muscles with a wee pint.
'I'll master that big mountain if it's the last thing I ever do.......actually.....it may very well be the last thing I ever do, but just you watch, I will master it', says Jude to himself.
Dream on.
'You talkin to me?'
'Here Margeurite, this idea of having a pint after a day's skiing is great business altogether, it's magic, the best thing since sliced bread'. Wha?'
'Aye dead on Jude, wind yer neck in', replies Marguerite.
'That's one day down, but many more days to go', says Marguerite as she is ready for the road.......
......and talking of being ready for the road, here's Jude all wrapped up like a Michelin man and about to board the bus......
