House hunting in the snow

Over the last couple of weeks it has did nothing but snow, snow and snow some more. The snow has now been laying non-stop since Christmas Day (remember Barry did not make it over on Boxing day) and it looks like it is set to continue for the foreseeable future. Here is Marguerite out and about around Boston smiling away goodo like a champion.

Folk who have visited Marguerite and Jude will do well to recognise this spot given that there is so much snow all over the place - sure it's only the wee bridge in the park outside 111 Park Drive. You can just about see it!!!

Ok - things were not all falling into place as they had hoped regarding their planned return home, so Marguerite and Jude have decided to remain in America for another year until March 2012. So just when it looked like it was about to pop it's clogs..........the blog lives on folks.

While they had been looking forward to resuming their lives at home - postponing the return home for another year is exciting in itself for Marguerite and Jude. It means they can see more of America while folk at home can continue to nip over for holidays, so everyone's a winner!

Due to a delay in making the decision to stay, Marguerite and Jude missed out on renewing their lease on their apartment. Hey, that's fine though as it allows for an exciting challenge in leaving the Fenway area behind and go search for a new and exciting home and area to live in.

Snow mobiles on Jersey Street!!!!!! Cool, wha?

Jude tries to manoeuvre his way through the streets in his trainers. He and Marguerite have so far steadfastly refused to join the fashion trend in America of wearing welly boots in the winter. Ok, yes they're practical, yes they keep yer feet warm and dry, yes they work, but no, Jude and Marguerite ain't wearing them, no way folks, they'd rather have cold and wet feet. Folk dander about with them on and have nice dry feet but hey they don't look as cool as Marguerite and Jude. Sure look at the bottom of Jude's breeks there, the wet is nearly up to his knees. Wha?

Oh yeah......Marguerite and Jude have both loved their stay in their wee apartment in Park Drive. However their stay there will come to an end soon as they move on to pastures new. And where will they be moving to? Today they are out searching for that new home.

Just when Jude thought it were safe to look around at Marguerite she's only chucking a snow ball at him!!!!!

What a great old pic this is. It's an aerial view of Fenway from the 1950's. It shows clearly how close Marguerite and Jude's apartment is to Fenway Park. Fenway Park in the bottom right hand corner is clearly a short walk from the tree-lined Park Drive which sweeps around the edge of the Back Bay Fens Park on the left there. Apt 52 at 111 Park Drive looks over the Back Bay Fens park and is directly opposite the large Museum of Fine Arts building you can see there at the top of the pic.

However today Back Bay Fens Park is barely recognisable as it is completely covered in snow.

And more snow.

The search for a new apartment has been taking up a bit of their time in recent weeks but thankfully it is now nearly a conclusion. Here is Marguerite scooting up the 'Green Line' to her preferred destinations of Coolidge Corner and Cleveland Circle.

It's funny how some wee simple seemingly innocuous things stick in the head, well Jude reckons he'll remember this great wee spot he and Marguerite visited after seeing what they hope will be their next home, a beautiful old house in the Cleveland Circle area with a class split level apartment. You'll have to wait to see if they get the apartment though before you can see some pics of it. Can't go tempting fate now!!!

An appointment to view an apartment near here was set for 9.00 am on a Sunday!!! Marguerite was quite excited to stumble across Emack & Bolio's just around the corner from her 'favourite' apartment, imagine that folks, her favourite Ice Cream shop just a puck of a hurling ball from the apartment....nice or dangerous? It was closed today but thankfully only for renovations, roll on the summer!!!!

Oh yeah, Park Drive, the never-ending snow, the bulldozers, the 'snow-days' off work, sure it's magic in Boston right now, there's more snow than ye could shake a stick at.

When Jude were a lad he used to wish for fog so the Strangford Ferry would be cancelled and then he'd get the day off school. In Boston everyone gets all excited when the snow falls as 'snow-days' are called where folk are expected to stay home to allow the authorities to clean up the roads and footpaths.

Another snow mobile, this time on Queensbury Street.

Meanwhile the house search went on and on and on.....

.....Winchester Street, Beacon Street, Dartmouth Ave, the South End, Pond Ave, and on and on.....

After a couple of days searching Marguerite and Jude think they have found their new home, well they hope they have because they can't be bothered wasting any more Saturdays looking. All will be revealed soon though, that is hopefully as soon as the lease gets signed.

Finally this pic of the entrance of 111 Park Drive shows just how mad the recent snow falls have been. Mad.
