Bye bye Winter, hello Springtime

Each season in Boston is so distinctly different and exciting in it's own way......and probably the most satisfying is the arrival of Springtime. The disappointment associated with the melting of the snow on the ski slopes quickly turns to 'the joys of Spring' as those beautiful warm springtime days arrive. Marguerite loves this season no end as you can see here with her all smiles.

Here she is out for a wee dander up in Boston Common.......looking cool as usual.....wha?

The frozen duck pond on Boston Common closes around this time each year.........

.......and folk like this auld lad get their kites out. He's a funny auld lad this one, you see he sort of asks you fly his kite for him.....just like here as he suckers Marguerite in..........

....................and he allows you to fly away at it for a few minutes before.......

........turning his back on you to display his wee sign which reads.....

.........Please help me fly my Kite & Yes Donations are Accepted!!! Donations for what might I ask? Only in America!! Honestly if that happened in Belfast folk would just laugh at yer man and tell him to catch himself on. It was funny all the same, seeing Marguerite get snared like that.

'I was fairly taken on there.......ripped off big time I was.......I thought yer man was being nice letting me fly his kite and all.....but all along he was just looking for money....ye live and learn', rambled Marguerite as she dandered along Commonwealth Avenue.

As Marguerite and Jude entered the Kenmore Square area of Commonwealth Avenue they came across the Lombard Lamp. This may not seem like a big deal but this is a pretty spectacular lamp indeed. It was given by the city of Hamburg, Germany to Boston, Massachusetts on September 24th 1980. It was a gift to mark the occasion of the 350th anniversary of Boston being founded as a city. Not a lot of people know that!

Jude loves this pic. It shows 3 great sights of Boston in one pic: the aforementioned Lombard Lamp, the Famous Citgo sign......and Marguerite sitting there on the park bench chilling out. What's so famous about the Citgo sign? Well since TV began showing Boston Red Sox games way back....the TV cameras perched high in the Fenway Park stands would be aimed out over the park in the direction of Kenmore Sq and so the Citgo sign was always there......clear as day in all the live broadcasts for decades. It is now a listed building in Boston even though the city no longer has any Citgo station! Not a lot of people know that either!

Jude continued to try to be all arty today and take arty pics and all that jazz..........just like this one of the Hancock Tower taken through these trees.

'What do you want from me?

'Come on Jude ye melter', said Marguerite as she took off continuing her dander down Commonwealth Ave.

It's another one of those arty pics..

So Marguerite was off swally for lent and didn't even bother with the St Patrick's day party. So today she said to Jude, 'Jude will you make sure I'm in lots of pics so that I can get onto the next blog post'. 'No bother at all, I know a man who knows a dog who knows a man who'll sort that out for ye', Jude replied.

A couple of nights later and a wee visit to MJ Ready's Thai Restaurant in Coolidge Corner for a bite to eat.........

........before a quick visit to the cinema. Check this place out. The Coolidge Corner Theatre cinema is a classic old style cinema and it has this class wee 14 seater cinema which folk can hire out for parties etc. Jude and Marguerite went here to watch..............

...........the Oscar nominated Short Films. The Northern Ireland film 'The Shore' was not only one of these nominated film.......it won!!!!! It was this great wee story of a man who went to live in America many moons ago, 25 years ago to be exact, and how he returned home to County Down with his daughter and met up with his long lost friend. A classic it is!!

Marguerite loved the film too.

Marguerite as she prepares to head out somewhere. Well she did ask to have loads of pics of her taken this week so......

.........here's another one.........here Marguerite gets all excited here as she walks past Brigham and Women's hospital when out for another dander.

Another arty pic.....wha? This one was taken just outside the Cheesecake Factory where Marguerite and Jude have just had Sunday dinner. Marguerite and Jude are like that.......eating out on a Sunday rather than cooking in like.......sure what's the point in cooking for two. If there were three or four mouths to feed then that would make more sense.

And here is Marguerite as she sits and relaxes after scoffing her dinner...........

............before visiting Saint Cecilia's Chapel in the Back Bay for Sunday evening Mass.

'Here Jude, take my pic over here at this flower pot, that is some flower pot, it's magic....please take my pic here', pleaded Marguerite.

After Mass Marguerite and Jude dandered back to Brookline but took a wee detour through their old haunt......Fenway. Here is a pic of Marguerite on that old bridge in the park opposite where they used to live. Ahh....the memories.

Now where's she off to? Glitzy bag in one hand, shades on and a tennis bat in the other hand. Looking very summery I might add, very summery indeed.....and it only Springtime!!!!

Marguerite is actually on her way to work and is just carrying Jude's tennis bat as he has a game today.

Marguerite and Jude have missed their Friday nights on the decking at the Beacon Street Tavern............

...........today was the first day the temperatures went over 70f so they bolted down to the deck for dinner (they even queued for 45 mins for a table out there when there were loads of free tables inside.....wha?).

A Banana Boat..................now that's just magic, pass that over here!!!!

Welcome to Springtime in Boston.
