Ben gets his first bike.

It's October time and here is Ben out having fun on his new bike.  He got his first bike this month and a happy little boy he was.

Cool ...... wha?

Here he is enjoying the Autumn sunshine.  Actually it doesn't matter if it's sunny or rainy ......... as long as he has a balloon he's a happy boy.

Ben likes an auld Indian meal now and again too.  Check out his cool 'pencil' table and chairs.

Marguerite recently came up with an idea of taking Ben out for a wee dander each evening.  Ben would love the wee dander and 20 minutes later he'd be sound asleep. Perfect.

For a few weeks this went on ........... up and down the lane and Pigeontown Road they went ........

........ until the nights drew in and it became too dark to continue.

Another brill idea Marguerite came up with in October was making her own jam.  Now we're talking ............. that's what country living is all about ....... making your own food and all that.

Marguerite would pick the blackberries from the back garden and cook them up ........ and before you knew it you had six cool jars of jam.  Nice!

Ben never ceases to be intrigued by the 'wee golfer man'.  Most of Ben's teddies and animals have been allocated names but not this wee fella ......... he just sits in the corner of the garden and plays golf all day.

Here's Ben playing with his animal set.  He tips them out of the bag and ...........

........... lines them up in a row.  Jude thinks that pretty cool for a boy who's not yet two.

Speaking of Ben's age ........ it would be his birthday in another week or two.  By now Marguerite and Jude had decided to get him his present a little early this year.

Why was it given early?

Well because he got a bike and they wanted him to be able to use it by the time his birthday came around ..... that's why.

Actually it was a balance bike to be precise.  That's a bike without peddles with which Ben would use his feet to keep balance.  But what if he lost his balance?

Well he would fall wouldn't he!!!  Here he is laying upside down on the floor having had his first ever fall from bike.  Pics like this are not caught that often ...... but thankfully Ben's was!

Do you think Ben liked his bike?

Well this pic might help answer that question.

After sticking him back in the car he insisted on the bike sitting with him in the car.

Back at home at 23a Pigeontown Road Ben is reaping the rewards of Mama and Dada's first observation upon entering this house for the first time.  Jude had commented, 'ahhh this big wide hallway would be great for Ben to play on'.

Here is Ben doing just that.

Before long Ben had the knack of this cool new bike game and he was loving it.  This time he is out the back on the pathway.

After making his way down the garden he momentarily forgot himself and hopped onto his swing.  Helmet still on ......... wha?

Ben's swing is cool because it has such a long swing area.  You can just see Jude's shadow there from where he has just pushed Ben and he is all the way over at the big tree.  That's a great swing and Ben loves it!!!

Going ........

...... going ......

....... gone!

'It was just as well I had my helmet on', Ben may have been thinking at this stage.

Ben's first scoot down the road on his bike.  One minute he'd be on the bike ........

.......... and the next he would be off it throwing 'wee helicopters'.

Back in the saddle again!

The next day Ben is chilling out and resting himself after all that exercise on his bike.

There is nothing more exciting to a child than getting and riding his or her first bike.  Good times!
