Here's Ben having fun on his 2nd birthday. Time really does fly when you're having fun and this last two years have certainly been lots of fun ..... that's for sure. So what did Ben get up to on his birthday?

Well to begin he got two cakes. Here are Riona, Grace and Marguerite with the first one.

'Move over and let me in please', said Cormac as he got in on this pic.

A couple of days earlier and Ben is pushed around B&Q on the buggie-yoke-thingymabobber.

Having a great time he was laughing-and-getting-on as he went.

The day before his birthday and he was in the Kennedy Centre when he stumbled across this school band / orchestra playing. For thirty minutes Ben danced away as the school kids tried desperately to continue playing while also laughing at Ben's dancing - good and all as it was!

'Here Ben, Happy Birthday ..... there's your new toilet ......... so start using it', was the message. However Ben sees his new toilet as a seat ...... and sometimes as a toy to play with ...... or a step to stand on ........ or whatever ....... he just has not figured out the 'toilet' bit yet ..... and it may take a while!

Here he is opening his very first card ....... from his granny Clarke.

'Happy 2nd Birthday Ben'.

On the morning of Ben's birthday he was happily sitting watching the funnies as he ate his breakfast. Cool as you like.

'Yum, yum .... fill yer tum with Weetabix'.

Meanwhile Marguerite was busy getting ready for Ben's party.
Today's theme was the countryside and animals and all that. Look at the cool 'country-style' plates and cups!

And check out these cheeky wee numbers with the animals on them! Wha? Very nice indeed.

Talking of 'cheeky wee numbers here's Ben laying about as all around him is descending into chaos. You see at this stage it was 12.30pm and folk were due to start arriving any moment.

First to arrive was Kerry and Rebecca. Poor Michael was sick today and so he could not get to the party so Rebecca gave Ben his present.

Next to arrive was Ben's auntie Emma. Emma brought Ben this super cool Mickey Mouse balloon, which of course Ben loved.

Michael Snr, Marguerite Snr and Emma presented Ben with this class new tool bench / kit complete with hard hat and yellow workman's outfit. Ben loves helping out when there's work being done.

Ben loves his auld Auntie Emma!

Folk were arriving by the bus load at this stage and Ben was getting loads of gifts. This time it was the turn of Eimear, Claire and Kievan.

Remember this?? Wha?
Well just as a wee reminder - this was a gift from Jude's friend Barry Coulter on the occasion of Ben's birth. It now adorns the wall of Ben's room. A great little gift that was.

By now the bingo bus had well and truly emptied and ......

....... the gifts kept-on-a-coming.

Ben's cousin Ruairi certainly looked the part as he tried on Ben's workman's hat.

Grace and Ben check out Ben's new fire engine. After all the presents were opened ............

.......... it was time for part two of Ben's party activities ...... the treasure hunt. Question: When is the best time to serve ice cream to a bunch of young kids? Answer: As they are walking out the door of your house!

So everyone got their ice cream and headed out the back. Here is Kiesha clearly enjoying her ice cream.

Ben's 2nd birthday Tresure Hunt group pic. Wha?
Back, L-R: Ja, Marguerite, Brenda, Jude, Cormac. Front, L-R: Grace, Kiesha, Kievan, Eimear, Claire, Ben, Seaneen, Ruairi, Kerry, Rebecca.
There are a few missing from this pic (probably getting stuck into the buns and what not - wha?) but time is money on a treasure hunt and so it was a case off 'hammer on there'.

First to find a gift was Grace.

Little Eimear is clinging on to her ice cream like it's the most important thing in the world.

Kievan loves this treasure hunt lark, especially when he finds a gift.

By now Riona, Rhiannon, Leah and Kevin had also joined the hunt around the house in search of goodies.

Ben was loving it!

Kiesha could find a needle in a haystack judging on how she found his gift. Supervisor Mr Ben kept a close watch on what was going on!

And Kiesha wasn't long getting the gift opened.

The treasure hunt worked like this - Jude would play music and when he would stop there would be a gift nearby. Then he would drop a big hint as to who the gift might belong to (ehhhh seeing as he planted them). Then that child would search a little more in that area.

Today's music of choice was Michael Jackson. Every now and again Jude would break into a dance ...... ehhhh ...... with his new wellies on. He bought these new wellies recently so he could make this country living more real ..... so he could blend in a little more like. Jude loves those wellies!

Rebecca did really well to find this gift hidden below the bush. Rebecca had the good sense to come dressed for the occasion (well it was noted on the invitation) - check out Rebecca's cool welly boots too!

Eimear needed the help of her Mum Claire to get this gift which was stuck up a tree!

By now most of the gifts had been found and the gang made their way up towards the house.

To the withered Pumpkin sitting on the doorstep. Two gifts remained ....... but where oh where could they be?

Ben is no dozzer and he was all over the Post Box faster than Postman Pat ...... where he found .....

..... another gift.

Finally the last gift was found ....... in the pumpkin!

This time it was Ruairi's turn to get a nice present.

After the treasure hunt was over Ben found time to pull a few dance moves before .....

...... his 2nd birthday cake arrived in. Here Marguerite carries it in as Ben's two uncle Kevin's watch on along with cousins Megan and Amy.

'Happy birthday to you .....

....... happy birthday to you .......

...... happy birthday dear Ben ....

......... happy birthday to you.

Ben and Kiesha were doing a good job trying to blow out the candles until Marguerite lent a helping hand.

And what we've got her folks is a wedding party reunion pic. Well actually it's the three flower girls, Amy, Leah and Riona all together with Marguerite, Jude and Ben.

Ben's Granda also got him this cool wee head torch for when he is helping Jude work outside.
What work would that be then? Answer in a moment.

Talking of Ben's Granda ..... well today was also Michael's birthday and after all Ben's friends had left Michael was able to relax with a wee Guinness or five.

Here is Michael opening this card which Ben has just presented him.
Here is Jude using Ben's wee torch thingy as he is busy working away. He's putting out the rubbish.
Today Ben had a great birthday with lots of fun, treats and presents.
Happy Birthday Ben!
