Rebecca's Baptism day - 07th Oct 2017

Today was Rebecca's Baptism day so she and Emma got the honour of being in the first photo of a blog post (possibly the first time ever that neither Marguerite, Jude or Ben have not been in this first pic).

Happy Baptism / Christening Day Rebecca Crossan.

The day got off to a flyer with Ben and Adam chasing each other around St Michael's (Finaghy Road North).

And before you knew it everyone was in the chapel and all set for the ceremony.  Everyone was in good form, especially given that family friend Father Michael was doing the ceremony.
Incidentally Father Michael has links to the previous blog post (Marguerite and Jude's 10th wedding anniversary) as he was priest for that occasion too!

Marguerite and Jude were chosen to be Rebecca's God Parents and Jude started his role off well with a contribution to the Baptism ceremony ..... after Father Michael did the readings Jude read the Prayers of the Faithful.

Rebecca's proud parents Emma and David watch on with her older brother Adam as she has the holy water poured over her head.

Marguerite is the perfect choice of God Mother for Rebecca and here she is helping out in the ceremony.

Next up for Rebecca was the oils ...... it's a hard auld life being 5 weeks old!!!

For the first of the post-ceremony pics Father Michael joins God Parents Jude and Marguerite and Mum & Dad David and Emma.

And here is Rebecca being held by her Great Grandmother and surrounded by her parents and Grandparents.

While the photos were going on the kids were having a ball.  To these guys the alter was a pretty cool playground!

Mummy Emma with baby Rebecca.

Emma and Marguerite with Rebecca.

Emma's friends Teresa and Aisling join in on this pic.

Emma and Rebecca are joined in this pic by Leah.

Ben was excited that he had a new cousin.  Here he is with Emma and Rebecca.

Michael and Aisling with Rebecca.

This is a great pic.  9 cousins all together.  At the back are Cormac, Leah, Rhiannon, Grace is in the middle and front left are Finn and Ben while front right are Ruairi and Adam.

Butter wouldn't melt!!

Kevin and Mary are having a right auld giggle with Rebecca.  But I wonder what they're laughing about?  Could it be that something is missing from this pic?

Like eyebrows perhaps??  lol

Yes, Kevin was trimming his eyebrows to keep himself looking young and he accidentally cut too much off one ...... so the other had to go too to balance it out.  You can't make this stuff up folks!!!

This is another nice pic ...... well it might have been slightly better had Kevin brought his eye brows!!!

Siblings Marguerite, Kevin, Michael and Emma are all together with Rebecca.

Marguerite Snr and Michael Snr are all smiles with Emma and Rebecca.

God parents Jude and Marguerite promise to be there for Emma and Rebecca for whatever reason as Rebecca grows up ...... so long as it does not involve baby-sitting, buying gifts, or spoiling the child in any way.

Only joking folks ...... that's exactly what they intend to do!!

And finally for the church pics .... Uncle Fra joins Emma and Rebecca in this one.

Most folk have a two-stage Baptism, i.e. Church then reception event.  Rebecca is special so she had three stages - first St Michael's, then down to Temple Restaurant in Andersonstown and finally (later) to the Andersonstown Social Club.

In Temple the craic was flowing from the word go.  Michael had very generously smuggled in a large consignment of bubbles ............ well actually truth be told it was a 'bring your own bottle' joint .... so he brought a large cooler box with copious amounts of the stuff.  'Giving an inch and taking a mile' has nothing to do with it folks .... if it says bring your own sure you'd be mad not to do as it says on the tin!

There's David pouring a bottle of the bubbles and giving the good auld 'thumbs-up'.

Lovely jubbly!

Emma has been waiting for a while to have a nice drink ..... try 10 months or something in that ball park.

Nice one.

Here's Michael with sons Finn and Ruairi ..... all looking cool as usual.

Adam the sophisticated photographer!!!

Marguerite and Jude chilling out in Temple.

Marguerite and Fra having some fun at Rebecca's Baptism day.

Ben is completely in his 'Captain Jack Sparrow' period right now (spot the hat) ........ and of course he loves balloons of any shape or size or colour!

Rebecca and her Auntie Marguerite.

Meanwhile back on the dance-floor Finn is chucking down some moves ...... much to Ruairi's amusement.

What a great day a Christening / Baptism day is ......... a welcoming of a new entrant into a family, all the religious ceremonies and of course the celebration to follow (no pics taken at Andersonstown Social Club as camera left in car and car went home).

07th Oct 2017 - Rebecca's Christening day ..... a brilliant day!
