Jude Marguerite & Ben's blog: Summer fun on a boat in Boston Harbor!!

Every now and again you have a day that is just soooo good you know it's going to stick in the memory for a long time. Well today was one of those days.

What was so good about it? Everything was!!!!!

Marguerite and Jude were invited out for the day for an adventure on the water with their friends Michelle and Mark. Here are Marguerite, Mark and Michelle in Marina Bay Quincy as they help prepare the boat for take-off, departure, lift-off....or whatever it is........

........and here is Michelle getting the most important thing sorted out, the cooler!!!!

The boat was soon un-hooked and the adventure was about to begin.

Marguerite is sooooooo excited today. Here she is munching on some food as the boat pulls out of Marina Bay.

Yeeeee haaaaa.......hold on tight mucker!

'Hey folks, where are we going?' asks Marguerite.

'Listen up here me scallywags, we'll be headin out to sea today, oh-arrrrh, we'll be touring the Boston Hahbah islands, we'll be stopping for a Barbie on me new Barbie thingy, we'll sun ourselves for a bit, we'll be doing a spot of fishing, we'll do some funky cool diving, we'll even swim for a time and all the while we'll be sure to be havin a wee swall or three........now how's that sound to y'all?' asks Captain Mark 'Sparrow'.

Here is Mark putting the bait (a snake) onto the end of the fishing rod......

Mark knows how to fish as he's been doing it for years, but he'll admit he's not the greatest fisherman this side of the Mississipi. In fact he may well be.......well how should I put it nicely........eh.....let's just say he's somewhat dodgy at it!!!

Talking of dodgy fishermen, here's Jude trying his hand at this game. Amazingly (he being from the Ards Peninsula in beautiful Co.Down) he has never fished before. Seriously. He spent his (mis-spent) youth honing his snooker skills, milking cows and damaging his hearing at rock gigs........not fishing.

But he who tries...........

......should keep on trying........

.........until all hope is lost.

Like here. Mark has seen enough and shows Jude how it should be done.

'Here's how it's done Jude', said Mark

Meanwhile Marguerite's hair has calmed down and she has settled down again. She's now laying up the back sunning herself.

'Here Jude, how's the fishing coming on mucker'? she asked.

'Wha?..........aye...sure this is magic, it's class, oi've got her sussed now alright', replied Jude

'Here hold on a cotton-picking-minute........... .....Maaaaaarrkk........oi've caught a fish......oi've caught a big one mate........quick me auld ship mate, come 'ere quick............screamed Jude

Eh........false alarm!!!

Jude thought he had caught a fish but the tug on the rod turned out to be just the added drag brought on by the boat slightly speeding up at that point! Wha?

'Hey Jude, you're not very good at that fishing game are ye'?

'I never did understand that daft sport', mumbled Jude.

Eh?

The rods? Best left alone!

At this stage Marguerite tried out a wee bit of sailing for herself. Here she is driving the boat......Oh aaaarrarrrhhh skipper!

Ok then, one last go to catch something for the BBQ.

After catching no fish at all the gang pulled into this wee secret spot on the far side on a tiny island in Boston Harbour and dropped the anchor.

Mark's latest gadget is this nifty wee clip-on BBQ. Now folks that is super cool indeed but as no fish was caught today the gang made do with some tasty burgers.....yum, yum.

This was indeed a whole new experience in terms of having a BBQ and very nice it was too.

It was now time to cool off!!

Now you see him......

.....and now you don't. Mark makes a splash!!

Now Jude and Michelle are getting brave too as they prepare to jump in.

100, 99, 98.........20, 19, 18, 17................3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2.......

'Oh just jump in ye chicken', shouted Marguerite.

'AAahhhhhhh'. And in they went like 3 ducks in a pond, only a lot less gracefully than the ducks would do it must be said.

'Sure this is roasting hot', said Michelle.

'Aye it's magic altogether', said Jude.

It really was nice to cool off for half an hour in the water..............nice.

Mark looks all bronzed while Jude looks......eh......white! 'Stick a top on Jude please, for God's sake man put a top on'.

Here Jude goes again only this time he's his own. What sort of a classy dive will he do this time?

One like this!!!! Yeee haaaa!

'My love will go on and onnnnnnnnnn', sings Marguerite.

'Hey Marguerite, it's not the Titanic we're on mucker, at least I hope not', commented Jude.

'.......and on and on.......'.

Marguerite is now joined up front by Michelle.

Now this really is the life........sitting at the front of a lovely boat, sunning yourself, listening to music.........

........drinking beer, having a laugh........

........while the lads drive the boat and do all the donkey work.

Eh.......Jude stick a top on will ye....please!!!

Eventually the gang made their way into the inner region of Boston Hahhbahh. The sights were pretty cool indeed and even more enjoyable because they got to pick where they wanted to go rather than being on a tour boat and having to go where you were taken.

.....eh....................can you spot the white-man!!!!!

At this point Jude was doing a grand job driving the boat, even if he did look like a rare-bit . The hardest thing was trying to avoid driving over Lobster Pots that were tied up all over the inner and outer harbour.

Marguerite and Jude had certainly never been this far into Boston Harbour on a boat so it was great to get a different perspective of the water front. Here is the Barking Crab fish restaurant which Gabriel (and his stag party) and then Geraldine were all taken too on their trips to Boston.

What a beautiful day it was and that turned into a beautiful evening. Who needs Miami when we have this on the doorstep? Boston rocks!!!!

'Here Jude look at the size of thon big bird there', said Marguerite.

This gives you an idea of how close Boston's Logan airport is to the city of Boston.

Heading back out of Boston's inner harbour and........

........it's time to speed up (the hair folks, check out the hair......wha?)

Meanwhile Mark 'Captain Sparrow' and co-pilot Jude have pumped up the volume on the boom box thingy.........

.......and all of a sudden that class song came on the radio, you know the tune, it's called 'I'm on a boat.......

This was one of those moments when folk say, 'ye needed to be there'. However it's captured here as best as possible. So they all started singing and dancing to the song........it was just brilliant but yes, ye really needed to be there. Check out Mark and Jude's moves there.....wha?

Here's a view of Boston Jude or Marguerite have never had before. It actually encompasses the whole city from the Prudential Building on the extreme left, with the Hancock Tower slightly to it's right and downtown Boston all the way over to the right. Nice!!!

The views when coming back into Marina Bay were beautiful. Mark and Michelle live here with their boat parked out their front....how cool is that?

As the gang were headed in these folk were headed out.

Check out the dog there, he's saying, 'whadda ye want from me?'

Sure that was just brilliant. Marguerite is all smiles as the boat returns to Marina Bay.......

........and the sun begins to set.

The day's work is not done though as shipmates Mark and Jude park the boat up good and proper.

After all the hard work is done the girls arrive back with more super supplies of corn and chicken for another BBQ.

Sitting in Marina Bay chilling out on the boat for the evening............class!!!!

Mark got to use his new BBQ thingy again for dinner. Pretty cool it was too, ye just hooked it on the back there, stick the gas canister on and off you go.
